| New Cafe comes to
Greenfield |

Petite Café to be opening in early
September. The small eatery, which is located between the Greenfield
Post Office and the public parking area, on Main Street is sprucing up for
their opening. The "Massachusetts Commission for the Blind", own the
building, and the equipment. John DeLaBruere, who has been legally
blind since 1970, interviewed with the Commission to lease the eatery. |
![]() The establishment has been closed for quite some time, and they are polishing, painting and putting up finishing touches, John states, "Greenfield people deserve quality food, and that is what I'll have at La Petite Café." The couple is planning a "soft" opening sometime in mid August, with an official opening in early September. They plan to serve all, and cater to businesses, with quick and good food at a good price. John is Canadian, his first language being French. He told of growing up in upper Vermont (Island Pond) where at the end of his |
driveway was
the Custom's office. Debbie is from the Boston area, and spent her
summers, growing up, in Maine. They share a love of gardening and
cooking. When telling of why they chose Greenfield to make their home, and open a business, John says, "Greenfield is the right size, and the people are friendly. It has a Vermont flavor". John's 21-year-old daughter, Shannon, will lend a hand around the store, and/or babysitting the couples three boys (ages 1, 2 and 10). The menu will include: pouting, which is French Canadian (French fries with melted cheese and brown gravy) They will have croissant sandwiches and Pierce Brothers gourmet coffee. They will start the menu with approximately 8-10 sandwich items, and look for suggestion for expansion of the menu. Along with French Dip Roast Beef, the French Connection Hero, Ham and Swiss, they will have 3-4 wrap sandwiches, to include a vegetarian. They will include French Fries, Onion Rings, Mozzarella Sticks, and Chicken Fingers. A picnic table is all in place in front of the café, and they will have a few small tables in the back, with umbrellas and chairs.
